December, 2012

On 10 December 2012, Justice for Iran launched this first-ever comprehensive report on sexual violence and torture in Iranian prisons.

This weighty report based on testimonials of victims, survivors, witnesses and experts, examines the extent to which women prisoners were systematically subjected to sexual violence as a gender-specific means of silencing young Iranian girls and women dissidents.

Justice for Iran

The aim of Justice for Iran is to protect and promote human rights through action to combat impunity. Shadi Sadr started addressing the impunity of representatives of the Iranian regime for using systematic sexual abuse of women as a method of torture and to extract confessions. For this purpose she organised a round table meeting with leading women and human rights defenders from Iran and international experts on transitional justice and accountability mechanisms. In 2010 she established Justice for Iran to continue her work on impunity and sexual abuse of women.
