Es extremadamente grave que se permita a las fuerzas regresivas extremistas perpetuar el reino del terror sobre la población tribal, especialmente, sobre las mujeres que se desempeñan en servicios públicos. Además del hecho de que estos elementos son identificables, las autoridades de gobierno han fallado totalmente en hacer valer y respetar el Estado de Derecho. Las omisiones del Estado y su inactividad de cara al asesinato y a las amenazas en contra de las personas han resultado en la completa impunidad para aquellos que cometen este tipo de actos terroristas, con consecuencias fatales para sus víctimas.

Women's Action Forum (WAF) Lahore is deeply disturbed by the shocking news of the killing of Ms. Farida Afridi in the Khyber Agency. It is evident from news reports that she was killed because she was a woman human rights defender associated with a non-government organization working for the welfare of tribal women. This is not the first killing of a human rights defender in the tribal area and it sends a chilling message to the whole community of civil society organizations working for people’s rights and for their development and welfare.

Earlier this month we issued an action alert to stop the stoning of Intisar Sharif Abdallah* in Sudan. We are pleased to share the news from our Sudanese sisters who report that as of 21 June 2012, Intisar was released unconditionally and without further charges. We, members of the Senegalese Feminist Forum, would like to express our full support for the Malian people and especially to the women who are woefully underrepresented in these critical moments of the country's political life.

We also wish to express our concern about the situation of people living in the occupied territories (Timbuktu, Kidal and Gao). International NGOs have withdrawn from the North and the schools are closed. The little information we have about the living conditions of people living in this zone is of multiple violations of human rights and individual freedoms.

Les dernières déclarations du Premier Ministre ont rendu évident que le projet d’interdiction était planifié depuis quelques temps. Cette initiative funeste qui ne repose sur aucune donnée scientifique ne fera pas baisser le recours à l’IVG mais va entraîner des IVG dans des conditions insalubres et occasionner des décès de femmes comme cela a été démontré à travers le monde. L’IVG n’est pas un assassinat, son interdiction l’est!

Women Living Under Muslim Laws (WLUML) and the Violence Is Not Our Culture (VNC) campaign call on Sudanese authorities to stop the execution of a woman condemned to stoning for alleged adultery. Intisar was accused of having a relationship and becoming pregnant by a man who was not her husband. She was found guilty after an “admission of guilt” following torture and brutal beatings by her brother who instigated the case. According to reports, Intisar did not have access to a lawyer during her trial, and her accused lover remains un-convicted and walks free. Today is 40 days passing since March 14th 2012 when the National Intelligence and Security Services known as NISS, Cracked down Jalila Khameis Koko house in Khartoum , and arrested her in front of her family members and relatives . Jalila is 45 years old Nuba woman, she is member of SPLM/N and very active in the women NGOs in Sudan, she works as a teacher in primary schools in Khartoum. Please write to authorities listed below.
